The Crisis Replay Event

The steps you take in the hours and days that follow a serious Health & Safety incident are critically important, but they are also very difficult to manage.   All too often, we see the same mistakes being made that can create unnecessary legal, reputational and financial risks for the organisation and the individuals within it.

During this event, we take you through the key stages and processes that follow a serious incident.

Drawing from decades of experience as a defence lawyer, Emma Bowens will provide examples of the common pitfalls and highlight ways to avoid them.

Incident Investigation Approach

A consistent and comprehensive approach to conducting incident investigations is an essential part of any Health & Safety strategy.  It is key to ensuring the correct cause of the incident is identified, and appropriate remedial actions are taken to prevent further incidents.

Delegates will have the opportunity to raise questions, discuss the process and develop a sound understanding of the way investigations are to be undertaken in your organisation.

Duties in Construction

The roles and duties of those involved in construction projects is not the same as with other industries.  A lack of understanding can lead to a breach of CDM Regulations, which can cause incidents and may prevent organisations from successfully defending allegations against them.

This session provides clear guidance on what each duty holder is responsible for.  We also help teams to understand how to comply, and we highlight the common problems we see throughout incident investigations.

Reducing Incidents & Improving Psychological Safety

Emma Bowens (Bowens Solutions Limited)  and Elizabeth Hyde (Hesper GRC) have produced a unique joint event on how to reduce incidents and improve psychological safety in the workplace.

During this session you will discover how these factors influence accident and near-miss reporting, ultimately contributing to a safer workplace as considering why some employees choose not to speak up when they see problems.

Elizabeth also unveils the results of her 'first of its kind' research project examining the critical role of psychological safety and leader behavioural integrity (i.e. the extent to which line managers ‘walk the talk’) in shaping workplace safety.

Coroner's Inquests
What to Expect and How to Prepare

Attending an inquest can be daunting, and when an organisation is required to provide evidence, careful preparation is required.

During this session we explain the inquest process, from registering your interests with the coroner, to preparing disclosure, and attending the hearing.  We let you know what to expect and help you ensure that you are prepared to deal with matters thoroughly.

If you are giving evidence, we will explain what will happen on the day, from where you will stand, to when you can leave.  We help to remove the ‘fear of the unknown’.
